Cruise Around The Bay

At first glance, this looks like a boldly stylised photograph of a pleasure boat — and in a sense, it is. The vessel holds its form, the composition is clear, the passengers are there. But look closer at the water and something unsettling becomes apparent: it isn't behaving like water anymore. The surface has become an accumulation of marks and colour, a churning abstract field where reflections once were. The sky does the same — dissolving into brushstroke-like layers of tone rather than anything meteorological.

And then there are the passengers. Rendered effervescent and jolly by the transformation, they pulse with energy — little clusters of colour and movement that somehow capture the spirit of a sunny bay cruise better than any straight photograph could.

Each work is the result of many recurrent iterations — a slow, cumulative process in which the algorithm repeatedly returns to the same surface pattern, strengthening and migrating it across the image until the original subject fractures and gives way to the metallic sheens, stained glass luminosity and calligraphic forms that define these prints. This is not a single-step filter. It is a process of gradual transformation, and the outcome of each iteration is never fully predictable.
