Pentecost - St Tudno's Llandudno

A photograph of the stained glass window at St Tudno's Church, Llandudno — one of Wales' most ancient places of worship, perched on the Great Orme. The transformation process, in one of its most startling moments of apparent intention, has wreathed the window in tongues of fire. The glass glows from within; flames lick the stonework of the arch. It is, unmistakably, Pentecost — the descent of the Holy Spirit rendered not in paint or lead, but through a slow algorithmic burn.

Whether the process “understood” what it was looking at is unknowable. What is certain is that it found the luminosity of the stained glass and amplified it into something that feels, uncannily, like divine fire.

Each work is the result of many recurrent iterations — a slow, cumulative process in which the algorithm repeatedly returns to the same surface pattern, strengthening and migrating it across the image until the original subject fractures and gives way to the metallic sheens, stained glass luminosity and calligraphic forms that define these prints. This is not a single-step filter. It is a process of gradual transformation, and the outcome of each iteration is never fully predictable.
