Castles in the Air - Conway N.Wales

A real photograph of Conway Castle, North Wales — yet the castle itself is almost beside the point. The transformation process has swept across the image like a storm, burying the ancient stonework beneath a surge of magenta and surface effects. What remains is ghostly and elemental: just the silhouette of turreted walls, barely visible through the turbulence, like a beauty spot glimpsed through weather. The castle becomes myth.

In this piece, the process identified patterns and reflections in the muddy estuary and consumed the rest of the image with them — a reminder that the algorithm develops its own obsession with texture and lets it take over entirely.

Each work is the result of many recurrent iterations — a slow, cumulative process in which the algorithm repeatedly returns to the same surface pattern, strengthening and migrating it across the image until the original subject fractures and gives way to the metallic sheens, stained glass luminosity and calligraphic forms that define these prints. This is not a single-step filter. It is a process of gradual transformation, and the outcome of each iteration is never fully predictable.
